Last chance to give your views on the cycling and walking plan
There are just a few days left to complete the online survey on the draft version of the Warwickshire Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).
If you’ve already completed the survey, thank you. If not, the consultation period ends on 14 August and you can find the survey here: https://ask.warwickshire.gov.uk/insights-service/lcwip/
This plan will be used to develop Warwickshire’s walking and cycling programme over the next ten years. So we need to find out now what infrastructure schemes should be included and prioritised.
If you’d like to send in more detailed feedback, please email tpu@warwickshire.gov.uk
Warwickshire walking and cycling opportunities
It’s shaping up to be a great summer for walking and cycling in Warwickshire.
Yesterday, we hosted the Commonwealth Games Women’s and Men’s cycling road races. The bunting and banners were out, the sun shone and the local crowds cheered on the competitors. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-62452426
But you don’t have to be an international athlete to enjoy walking and cycling around the county. There are so many opportunities:
• Warwickshire Cycle Buddies: supported by a Green Shoots grant, this is a free service connecting novice cyclists with experienced riders to build confidence cycling around the Warwickshire area. To volunteer to be a buddy or request a buddy, visit https://warwickshirecyclebuddies.co.uk/
• Cycle September: if you’re looking to ride more or try a bike commute for the first time, then you can register at lovetoride.net/warwickshire and earn points and enter prize draws.
• Leisure walks - from long distance paths to local rambles:
